When members move up to the next branch and new members join, Girl Guides make a promise to be true to themselves and "take action for a better world". Including a service project with our enrollment ceremonies is a tangible way to take action for a better world.
As Tenderfeet and Tweenies became Guides and Brownies (and Sparks, Pathfinders, and Rangers), Girl Guide units from across the province were challenged to bring sock donations to their enrollment ceremonies.
"Girl Guides plan and execute service projects year-round and are always looking for ways to give back to the community, especially those that help youth. When we saw the request for socks from Phoenix on Twitter, we thought it was a great opportunity. Every unit holds an Enrollment ceremony and it was something everyone could participate in." - Cathy, Langille, Girl Guides.
